Abstract

This symposium consists of three papers. Sylvie Rivot analyses the early work of Jean-Pascal Benassy, from the thesis he defended in 1973 to a new synthesis presented in 1982 in his book The Economics of Market Disequilibrium. Romain Plassard discusses the work carried out by French economists between 1977 (Laffont and Garcia) and 1993 (Artus, Avouyi-Dovi and Laffargue) to estimate econometric models based on general equilibrium models with rationing. Rodolphe Dos Santos Ferreira returns to the notion of involuntary unemployment developed by Keynes in The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money, and proposes a reinterpretation of it by reasoning within the macroeconomic framework developed by Benassy in his thesis.
