Abstract

Ce chapitre s'intéresse au développement international d'Elodys International, une PME ligérienne spécialisée dans la conception et la fabrication de systèmes de nettoyage industriel écoresponsables. Fondée en 2008, Elodys est née d'un partenariat entre l'entreprise Barrault Recherche Eau & Industrie et le chimiste canadien Gilles Tastayre. Comptant aujourd'hui une dizaine de salariés, la société réalise environ 20 % de son chiffre d'affaires à l'export, principalement vers les États-Unis et l'Europe. Elodys a su nouer des partenariats stratégiques avec des acteurs majeurs de l'industrie agroalimentaire, tels que le groupe Danone, reconnu à l'international pour son engagement en faveur de la soutenabilité. À partir de cette trajectoire, le chapitre examine les défis auxquels est confrontée une PME innovante engagée dans la soutenabilité lorsqu'elle cherche à étendre ses activités à l'international. Il met en lumière les paradoxes stratégiques auxquels les entrepreneurs soutenables et ce type d'entreprise sont confrontées, notamment entre la volonté de diffuser une technologie à impact environnemental positif et la nécessité de protéger ses actifs immatériels dans des contextes institutionnels fragiles. Ce cas illustre ainsi les tensions vécues par les entreprises écoresponsables dans leur processus d'expansion international.
