Abstract

This exploratory research focuses on conviviality (Illich, 1973) as a dimension of the appropriation of light vehicles that participate in the transition to sustainable mobility. The Vhéliotech project, which was the subject of a field observation by videography, invites participants to build their vehicles themselves in a collective workshop, thus promoting their autonomy and well-being. The study shows that mutual aid and the friendly atmosphere of the workshop facilitate the appropriation of vehicles, contributing to the adoption of more ecological modes of transport. However, questions remain about the long-term use and comfort of these machines. Conviviality, a theoretical concept little used in marketing, proves to be a promising way to support the ecological transition.
