Abstract

L'objectif de cet article est d'évaluer les coûts de production associés à la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre et à l'amélioration de la biodiversité. Cinq classes de performance environnementale des exploitations sont construites en utilisant les émissions de gaz à effet de serre par unité de surface agricole comme critère ainsi que cinq classes de performance basées sur un indice de diversité de cultures. Un modèle de score de propension généralisé est appliqué à un panel non balancé de 2 463 observations de 1 898 exploitations bovines laitières conventionnelles de la région Bretagne entre 2020 et 2022. Les auteurs montrent que les coûts de production induits par une meilleure performance environnementale selon les émissions de gaz à effet de serre augmentent en fonction des classes de performance alors qu'une meilleure performance en termes de biodiversité cultivée n'affecte pas le coût de production.
