Abstract

This article examines the impact of improved seeds and motorized tillage on agricultural productivity in Burkina Faso, using data from the Continuous Multisectoral Survey (EMC). The findings indicate that improved seeds significantly increase productivity, whereas motorized tillage has a negative effect when adopted in isolation. However, their combined use generates complementary gains. The analysis also reveals gender-differentiated impacts of improved seeds and underscores the pivotal role of education in enhancing the effectiveness of technology adoption. These insights support the need for integrated policies that ensure access to modern inputs, combined with tailored training and inclusive agricultural support systems.
