Abstract

Dans la littérature, le concept de l'entrepreneuriat de nécessité est quasi-automatiquement assimilé à une solution par défaut pour sortir du chômage (Ritsilä et Tervo, 2002 ; Evans et Leighton, 1990 ; Mason, 1989 ; Harrison et Hart, 1983). S'appuyant sur les modèles de décision de Shapero et Sokol (1982), nous avons mené une étude exploratoire visant (1) à comprendre si leurs motivations sont liées uniquement à leur situation d'inactivité professionnelle (sortir du chômage), (2) à connaître l'évolution de la réalisation de leurs projets, (3) à identifier les différents obstacles rencontrés influençant le démarrage ou non de leurs activités. Les résultats nous ont permis de sortir de la typologie dichotomique opposant l'entrepreneuriat d'opportunité à l'entrepreneuriat de nécessité (Reynolds, Bygrave, Autio, Cox et Hay, 2002), pour proposer deux autres types d'entrepreneuriat complémentaires : l'entrepreneuriat de tradition dont les motivations sont de nature push et l'entrepreneuriat de conviction dont les motivations sont de nature pull.
