Abstract

Résumé L'évolution des conceptions managériales en terme d'emploi a conduit à instaurer, dans les représentations des dirigeants, un lien entre réduction des effectifs et augmentation de la performance des entreprises. Selon cette logique, toute réduction de postes est source d'économie et contribue ainsi à l'amélioration de la performance. Cet article a pour premier objet d'interroger la pertinence de ce présupposé de sens commun ; sa seconde finalité est de chercher à expliquer les raisons de la réfutation de ce lien par des études académiques et à fournir des éléments de réflexion aux dirigeants pour l'amélioration du processus décisionnel.
