Abstract

The article analyses a collaborative supply chain that French retailer Carrefour developed in the form of a consolidation and collaboration centre. Findings reveal the crucial importance of information systems in achieving this goal. Properties include 1)an interoperability that is not required with internal information systems, 2) information centralisation via pooled interdependency, and 3) a SaaS (Software as a Service) information platform managed by Carrefour's chosen service provider. Lastly, there is a discussion of the supply chain's governance, highlighting the role that different supply chain actors play in pooling physical and informational flows.
