Abstract

The aim of this article is to understand, during the emergence period of the function, the risk manager's position in the organization. An analysis framework built from the works about functional services allowed us to study it around two dimensions: client, authority. The analysis realized from interviews managed in thirteen firms, clarifies the person or group of persons the RM work for, identifies their authority-grade in the decision and the factors of this authority, suggests to explain it through the issue of legitimacy.
