Bénéfices et coûts de l’immigration : les perspectives macroéconomiques d’une politique d’immigration active en France

Abstract

Les perspectives démographiques récentes positionnent la France dans une situation plus favorable par rapport à ses principaux partenaires de l'Union européenne. Avec une fécondité qui reste l'une des plus élevées d'Europe depuis le début des années 2000 et des flux migratoires nets revus à la hausse dans les dernières projections démographiques, le spectre d'un déclin démographique ne semble plus à craindre. Néanmoins, l'allongement de l'espérance de vie se poursuit et devrait nourrir le phénomène de vieillissement démographique. Avec un système de protection sociale essentiellement ascendant (caractérisé en grande partie par des transferts des actifs vers les plus âgés), ce vieillissement démographique se traduira mécaniquement par une dégradation des comptes de la protection sociale.
