Abstract

You know the Toulouse international fair as a place bringing together traders and the public in a single place, the exhibition center. But do you know how it all started? Irregular meetings in the heart of the pink city in the 18th century, small fairs already mixed agricultural, industrial and commercial environments. From the industrial revolution a first breakthrough occurred: we thought of bringing together all these beautiful people in a single ephemeral place, around the Grand Rond, Allées Jules Guesdes, then for 30 years, the prairie of filters served as a meeting place for all the exhibitors, it was only in the 1950s that it finally found a unique place known to all Toulouse residents: the ramier island. But nowadays, since 2021, located at the new exhibition center, the MEETT, this retrospective by Patrice Ballester produces on behalf of "GL events Toulouse méropole events", through numerous explanatory panels, a geohistory of the Toulouse fair (and business tourism) , it revives the memory of the most faithful. And if you are nostalgic for festival events like Hola Cuba, New York or Tokyo, good news, next year should mark the big return of the theme fair.
