Abstract

Du fait de la forte contagiosité du nouveau coronavirus, de la difficulté à le détecter, d'un taux élevé de mortalité chez les personnes âgées contaminées, de l'absence d'un traitement efficace et peu coûteux, et de l'indisponibilité dans l'immédiat des vaccins, la pandémie de Covid-19, a obligé les pays membres de la zone euro à adopter des mesures de confinement sans précédent pour limiter la contagion et l'effondrement des systèmes de santé et pour sauver des vies humaines. Ces mesures ont entraîné des conséquences économiques négatives très importantes et incertaines qui appellent la Banque centrale européenne (BCE) à agir de façon très agressive.
