Abstract

Chacun s'accorde, sur le fait que les politiques monétaires engagées pour contrer la crise ont fortement différé d'une époque à l'autre. Politique de rigueur monétaire en 1930 et 1931 aux Etats-Unis, politiques monétaires expansionnistes dès 2008 et 2009, aux Etats-Unis et en Europe, destinées à empêcher qu'une crise de liquidité ne vienne enfoncer l'économie dans la récession. Les autorités monétaires actuelles ont-elles tiré les leçons du passé en s'orientant vers des politiques monétaires actives contraires à celles engagées après la crise de 1929 ? Ce choix est-il pertinent en regard du contexte de trappe à liquidité, commun aux deux périodes selon notre hypothèse ? [1]
