Les événements climatiques extrêmes, en particulier les sécheresses, ont des effets très importants sur les populations des pays du Sud, notamment au sein des secteurs agricoles et de l'élevage : baisse des rendements, mortalité accrue du bétail, pertes de services écosystémiques…
