Abstract

Since the first half of the 2000s, several authors consider that the performance strategies of Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) consist of simultaneously achieving a complementary dual economic and social objective (Labie, 2004). However, no research has analyzed the relevance of this dual approach to performance, in the case of MFIs in Benin. Our research addresses this question based on an analysis of the performance of MFIs in Benin. A qualitative study conducted among senior executives of 14 microfinance institutions brings to light several results, new perspectives as well as broadening the dual concept approach of microfinance performance in this particular environment.
