Abstract
Comment transformer une vulnérabilité individuelle en une force collective ? Le parcours et les écrits d'Eboussi Boulaga, philosophe camerounais (1934-2018), répondent à cette question et entrent en résonance avec le concept de "l'empowerment". Révélé dans les années 70 et récemment adopté par le management, ce processus d'expansion de la puissance d'agir et du pouvoir d'influence d'un citoyen et de sa communauté se déploie au travers de démarches d'émancipation individuelles et collaboratives. D'une part, dans sa prise de conscience critique qui a amené ce père jésuite à quitter les ordres, on retrouve la première phase de l'empowerment individuel, celle de la remise en cause du cadre institutionnel au nom de la dignité de l'Homme Noir et de sa liberté de disposer de son destin propre. D'autre part, son ouverture sur les communautés africaines et son rapport à l'universel posent les fondements d'une réflexion profonde sur l'empowerment collectif. Dans cette contribution, nous évoquons dans quelle mesure les écrits d'Eboussi Boulaga font écho aux différents niveaux de l'empowerment individuel et collectif (Fayn et al., 2019) : communautaire, collaboratif-productif et sociétal. Nous montrons aussi comment son approche vient enrichir le changement nécessaire de paradigme dans la gouvernance, voire même dans la finalité de l'entreprise.
