Abstract

Stopper et inverser la déforestation d'ici à 2030, tel est l'engagement pris par plus d'une centaine de pays au sommet de la 26 e Conférence des parties (CdP26) pour les Nations-Unies à Glasgow. L'accord de Paris stipulait que dans la seconde moitié de ce siècle les quantités de carbone piégées par l'ensemble des puits de carbone soient au moins égale sinon supérieure aux émissions anthropiques (politiques d'équilibrage des émissions de carbone dites à « zéro-émissions nettes »). Dans ce contexte, les programmes de protection et de plantation des forêts sont déterminants pour atteindre l'objectif de cet accord qui est de limiter la hausse des températures « bien en deçà de 2°C » par rapport aux niveaux pré-industriels.
