Abstract

Work on the various determinants of managerial control of innovation has burgeoned in recent years. This research is characterized by the wide variety of innovations studied and by the diversity of control tools used by organizations. In this article, we categorize the main works on the control of innovation according to three dimensions: management style, form of control, and performance measurement. This analysis allows us to clarify certain tensions in the control–creativity duality that arise either from the control of innovation or that are specific to the field of creativity.
