Acidification des océans et changement climatique, les enjeux pour la gestion. Blue is the new green

Abstract

Une étude récente, rassemblant des chercheurs américains et britanniques, publiée dans le Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (Herring et al., 2014), explique que les changements climatiques actuels jouent un rôle majeur dans l'occurrence et l'aggravation de la majorité des événements météorologiques et climatiques les plus dramatiques de 2013. Les auteurs de cette étude montreraient ainsi le lien entre l'action humaine et un certain type de catastrophes naturelles. Les différentes parties de l'étude indiquent que le changement climatique causé par l'homme-en particulier par la combustion des énergies fossiles-participerait fortement à l'augmentation des risques de neuf événements extrêmes : les déluges aux États-Unis, les inondations dévastatrices dans le nord de l'Inde, ainsi qu'en Californie, les canicules en Australie, au Japon, et en Chine, les épisodes de sécheresse en Nouvelle Zélande, et enfin les canicules et les inondations en Europe de l'Ouest, comme en témoignent d'ailleurs les graves épisodes des mois de septembre et novembre dans le sud de la France.
