Abstract

Parmi les difficultés de la théorie de l'équilibre général, M. de Vroey signale son caractère centralisé, qui contredirait le projet de décrire une économie décentralisée. La centralisation présente dans l'économie walrassienne et néo-walrassienne, parce que les prix n'y sont pas déterminés au hasard de rencontres bilatérales, n'est pourtant pas incompatible avec une décentralisation. En effet, non seulement les décisions sont prises par des centres de décisions qui ne sont pas les exécutants d'un plan élaboré collectivement, mais la coordination de ces décisions peut être marchande. L'examen du personnage du crieur de prix walrassien et de l'épistémologie de Walras fait apparaître le marché walrassien comme centralisé et décentralisé, cette double caractéristique n'étant pas contradictoire.
