Abstract

La crise économique mondiale fait maintenant place à des crises politiques nationales, au retour des frontières et des murs. Cette situation est au moins en partie le résultat d'une sous-estimation des instabilités du capitalisme. Nos Etats providence ont permis de civiliser les capitalismes nationaux. Ils sont de plus en plus présents, sans réellement limiter les risques et inégalités issus de la mondialisation.S'appuyant sur l'histoire économique et sociale, aussi bien que sur une claire analyse du contexte économique contemporain, ce livre explore la possibilité d'une autre relation entre l'économie et la politique, en élargissant l'espace des solidarités. Il propose en particulier la création d'une assurance chômage européenne, compatible avec les systèmes nationaux et s'appuyant sur l'expérience des Etats-Unis. Contre le seul repli national, il existe un chemin économiquement cohérent pour préserver nos Etats providence.
