Innovation pharmaceutique : comment combler le retard français ?

Abstract

La France, pays inventeur du vaccin, peine à exister dans la course à l'innovation pharmaceutique, comme l'illustre la recherche de vaccins contre le Covid-19. Les deux auteurs de cette Note, Margaret Kyle et Anne Perrot analysent les raisons du retard français et avancent des recommandations pour tenter d'y remédier en balayant toutes les étapes de l'innovation, de la recherche fondamentale au développement puis à la commercialisation des produits. Au total, la France souffre d'une série de dysfonctionnements dans le domaine pharmaceutique, qui lui ont fait perdre des places dans la course internationale à l'innovation. Réduire la complexité du millefeuille administratif, rapprocher le monde de la recherche fondamentale et ceux de la recherche appliquée et de la recherche clinique, mieux exploiter les données pour tenir compte de la valeur des traitements dans la gestion économique des produits pourrait constituer un socle de mesures favorables à l'innovation dans ce secteur important.
