Abstract

Entrepreneurial finance mainly involves three sources of funding: Business Angels, venture capital and crowdfunding. Crowdfunding connects the crowd, as an investor, with entrepreneurs via online platforms. However little studied in the literature, platforms seem to play a major role. They contribute to the governance of entrepreneurial projects through disciplinary but also cognitive mechanics by providing advice, network and notoriety. In particular, the study of French Equity Crowdfunding platforms highlights their role as an interface between the crowd, Business Angels and venture capital. They mobilize the cognitive resources of each category of investors in a differentiated manner, thus participating in the alignment of mental schemas and the design of new opportunities. Four types of platforms can be distinguished according to their governance practices.
