Abstract

Avec la seconde indus­tria­li­sa­tion et l'influence de l'idéo­lo­gie libé­rale des années 1880, le fait économique a pris de l'ampleur, par­fois au détri­ment du poli­ti­que ; l'his­toire est donc aussi économique. La part dévo­lue à l'indus­trie est passée, depuis 2000, de 19 à 12 % du PIB ; d'autres acti­vi­tés – la finance, l'assu­rance, les ser­vi­ces, les tech­no­lo­gies de l'infor­ma­tion et de la com­mu­ni­ca­tion – ont pros­péré. En France, une partie des gran­des entre­pri­ses a dis­paru, à l'instar du Royaume-Uni mais à l'encontre de l'Allemagne, du Japon ou encore des États-Unis, pro­té­geant davan­tage leurs entre­pri­ses. Dans ce contexte de fusions, acqui­si­tions, absorp­tions, ces­sions et ventes d'entre­pri­ses, d'émergence de nou­veaux sec­teurs, les his­to­riens et his­to­rien­nes, de conserve avec les archi­vis­tes, ont une res­pon­sa­bi­lité : s'assu­rer que leur patri­moine sera pré­servé.
