Abstract

Comment expliquer que le statut SCIC (Société Coopérative d'Intérêt Collectif), créé par la loi du 17 juillet 2001, n'a pas jusqu'à présent rencontré le succès que l'on pouvait légitimement escompter ? Alors qu'en France de nombreux acteurs, dans la culture comme dans d'autres secteurs d'activité, ont portés et réclamés la création d'une entreprise à vocation sociale, on ne compte qu'une centaine de SCIC (dont 10 % environ dans la culture) plus de cinq ans après sa mise en place. Pourtant, si l'on considère uniquement le champ de la culture, c'est plusieurs centaines de projets qui, théoriquement, seraient susceptibles d'entrer dans le cadre défini par la SCIC. C'est ce paradoxe qui constitue le questionnement principal de cet article.
