Abstract

The question of the influence and impact of United States military expenditure on economic development raises several methodological problems, particularly with regard to the availability and accuracy of data, the consideration of the combined effects on national security, and short-or long-term analysis. Econometric analysis is concerned only with figures and seeks to highlight some relationships between macroeconomic variables explained, at least partially, by the different components of military spending. The question of the validity of economic equations and models arises, given that the national security function is not taken into account in the econometric process of the impact of military spending on a country's economic growth.
