Abstract

La demande globale en bois industriel est en expansion et continuera d'augmenter avec des accroissements annuels projetés de l'ordre de 1,3 à 1,8 % jusqu'à l'horizon 2030 en lien avec l'augmentation de la population, les dynamiques de croissance économique (Chine, Inde, Asie du Sud-Est, Amérique du Sud..), les besoins en biomasse pour les filières traditionnelles, pour l'énergie en Europe ou plus largement le développement des nouveaux marchés de la bio-économie. Compte tenu des risques climatiques à venir, des pressions démographiques et foncières, et de l'évolution des demandes sociétales en produits et services forestiers, les disponibilités futures des ressources forestières seront très variables selon les régions du globe et leur potentiel d'augmentation et de mobilisation pour faire face à des besoins industriels croissants en biomasse sera principalement limité aux zones à forte productivité dans le cadre de systèmes de gestion intensifiés.
