Abstract

Les industries agroalimentaires constituent, avec plus de 425 000 salariés, la 1ère industrie de France, mais aussi le 3e poste en termes d'excédent commercial (quelque 9 milliards d'euros en 2014). Plus de 15 000 entreprises de toutes tailles, dont nombre de coopératives, forment un tissu d'activités et d'emploi territorial dense. Leur position au centre du système alimentaire, entre l'agriculture et la distribution, leur donne un fort impact économique, social et sanitaire. Ce secteur souffre pourtant de handicaps, notamment l'absence d'un réseau suffisant d'entreprises de taille intermédiaire et d'une stratégie lui permettant d'affronter avec succès la concurrence internationale. Pour relever les défis d'un développement agricole et alimentaire durable et permettre un véritable rebond de ce secteur, les industries agroalimentaires doivent se différencier par la qualité des produits et renforcer la coordination au sein des filières et entre elles. Un dossier fouillé sur le sujet, cartes et chiffres à l'appui.
