Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of the farmer and his family on the implementation of short food supply chains (SFSCs) on French farms. While many farms are adopting alternative food marketing strategies, few studies consider the influence of the family and its structure on this choice. We use the 2010 exhaustive Agricultural Census of French farms for its accuracy and we implement a logit model. The results show that family plays a key role in the adoption of short food supply chains, especially the involvement and the marital status of family members.
