Abstract

Depuis la fin de l'année 2019, l'épidémie de Covid-19 menace la santé des populations et fragilise – autant qu'elle interroge – les modèles socio-économiques mondiaux. Apparu en Chine, le coronavirus SARS-Cov-2 à l'origine de la maladie s'est rapidement répandu à travers tous les continents, au gré de la circulation des personnes parcourant notre monde globalisé. Ce n'est malheureusement pas la première fois que l'humanité doit faire face à l'émergence d'un pathogène à potentiel pandémique. Mais les épisodes très médiatisés d'épidémies liées à des virus tels que les coronavirus responsables du syndrome respiratoire aigu sévère (SRAS), du syndrome respiratoire du Moyen-Orient (MERS) et désormais du Covid-19 ont mis un coup de projecteur particulier sur leur réservoir sauvage, les chauves-souris. Néanmoins, il ne faudrait pas que l'émotion causée par la pandémie actuelle l'emporte et mène à négliger d'autres sources potentielles de dangers zoonotiques, telles que les rongeurs ou les petits carnivores.
