Apports et limites de l'analyse des données

Abstract

L'analyse des données dans les sciences sociales a connu un très grand développement en France durant les années 1970. Ce développement tient à trois causes : les progrès dans le domaine des ordinateurs, les contraintes statistiques faibles et la facilité d'emploi. Mais, cette facilité même est source de danger. Comme toute méthode descriptive, l'analyse des données doit être envisagée par rapport à une démarche générale dont elle ne constitue qu'un premier pas, débouchant vers une formalisation plus rigoureuse. Des exemples concrets utilisant l'analyse factorielle des correspondances et des méthodes de classification automatique sont proposés.
