Abstract

En 1998, José Muchnik et Denis Sautier, chercheurs à l'Inra et au Cirad, définissent le concept de Systèmes agroalimentaires localisés (Syal), comme une « organisation de produits ou de services associés à un territoire ». Cette approche, qui découle des notions de Districts industriels et de Systèmes productifs localisés, est de plus en plus souvent présentée comme un outil de développement. Voyons ici sa genèse et sa possible utilisation par les acteurs du développement rural.
