Abstract

Successive reforms of the health and social sector encourage institutions to reduce their costs, increase their economic efficiency and provide continuous improvement in the quality of user care. New managerial practices, through the change they induce, can impact employees' well-being at work. This research then intends to examine the perception of social performance in residential care facility for dependent elderly (EHPAD). The results of the qualitative survey conducted in a for-profit EHPAD reveal the difficulties related to the notion of social performance : lack of communication between employees and supervisors, lack of recognition, cleavage and lack of solidarity between teams, stress, working conditions difficult, intensification of work, conflicts of values. Improving the social performance of EHPAD would then require the improvement of the employment and managerial relationships, and the creation of spaces for ordinary discussions.
