Abstract

Les enjeux auxquels nous sommes confrontés nous rappellent chaque jour avec davantage d'insistance la nécessité d'étudier « la viabilité et le potentiel émancipateur des alternatives présentes dans le monde » (De Sousa Santos, 2016), ainsi que leur capacité à fournir des inventions et à élargir la gamme des solutions disponibles pour résoudre les problèmes de société (Laville, et Salmon, 2015). Ils nous invitent à nous départir de la tentation d'une mise en accusation de leurs ambiguïtés et insuffisances qui en minerait le potentiel, mais davantage à être attentif à ce qui serait de nature à les consolider et à permettre à d'autres d'assurer leur développement. Imprégné de cette perspective nous allons nous immerger dans le cas du village Emmaüs Lescar-Pau. Outre le fait qu'il occupe une place tout à fait singulière dans le tissu associatif français, il nous offre la possibilité de voir la place centrale et plurielle que tient et continue de tenir la culture dans son dispositif, donnant à voir au travers de ce prisme une des clés de son évolution.
