Employment decreased in Paris and in the nearby suburbs although the job structure there was very favorable. On the other hand, employment significantly increased in the outlying suburbs. The conjunction of these two phenomena shows the job slack in the Ile-de-France. Among the most privilegied departments, some benefit from a particular dynamism in the tertiary sectors, others in the industrial sectors. In the most disadvantaged group, all the disadvantages accumulate; no one factor plays a decisive role.
