Abstract

[eng] The geographical redistribution of jobs between 1975 and 1982 - Between 1975 and 1982, employment decreased in certain departments and grew by more than 7 % in others. This unequal evolution can be explained in part by differences in employment structures. In particular, departments where the services sector is the most solidly implanted are in a privilegied position. The evolution of industrial employment, however, explains most of the disparities. Indeed, the distribution of these jobs is very heterogeneous and, for a given sector, the evolution is often very different from one geographical area to another. Employment decreased in Paris and in the nearby suburbs although the job structure there was very favorable. On the other hand, employment significantly increased in the outlying suburbs. The conjunction of these two phenomena shows the job slack in the Ile-de-France. Among the most privilegied departments, some benefit from a particular dynamism in the tertiary sectors, others in the industrial sectors. In the most disadvantaged group, all the disadvantages accumulate; no one factor plays a decisive role.
