Abstract

Le nombre d'agriculteurs rencontrant des difficultés financières susceptibles de les obliger à cesser leur activité semble s'être accru notablement en France depuis le début de la crise des revenus agricoles. Phénomène considéré comme marginal jusqu'à ces dernières années, il touchait en 1982 a peu près 4 pour cent des exploitants a temps complet. La moitié de ces agriculteurs en difficulté a accédé à cette date a une aide publique. Les bénéficiaires de l'aide sont des exploitants disposant en général de moyens de production supérieurs à la moyenne. Leurs difficultés proviennent d'une mauvaise rentabilité de l'exploitation ou d'un endettement excessif ou inadapté. Un tiers de ces exploitants avait antérieurement touché des subventions pour leur installation ou leur modernisation.
