Abstract

'économie sociale et solidaire peut être définie comme l'association de deux concepts : l'économie sociale et l'économie solidaire. Le premier est traditionnellement défini comme un tiers secteur distinct des pouvoirs publics et des entreprises privées à but lucratif (Defourny et al., 1999). Dans cette conception par la négative, l'économie sociale constitue un ensemble vaste et hétérogène d'organisations qui opèrent dans de multiples champs (santé, éducation, culture, etc.). D'un point de vue juridique, elle réfère à l'ensemble des associations, mutuelles, coopératives et fondations. L'économie solidaire peut, quant à elle, être définie comme « l'ensemble des activités économiques soumis à la volonté d'un agir démocratique où les rapports sociaux priment sur l'intérêt individuel ou le profit matériel » (Eme et al., 2005, p. 253). C'est l'idée de solidarité, par opposition à l'individualisme sur lequel repose la logique capitaliste, qui est au cœur des différentes acceptions de l'économie solidaire.
