Valeur et valeur humaine. De l’économie chrétienne à la biopolitique

Abstract

Depuis Albert le Grand et Thomas d'Aquin, les économistes chrétiens n'ontcessé d'explorer les notions de valeur d'échange, de valeur-travail et devaleur d'usage, en vue de les rendre compatibles avec la justicecommutative et la justice distributive telles que les définit la théologiemorale. Face à l'essor des théories subjectives de la valeur chez leséconomistes néo-classiques, le dominicain Louis-Joseph Lebret (1897-1966)et l'économiste François Perroux (1903-1987), ainsi que d'autres penseurschrétiens de leur génération, ont soumis l'efficacité économique à lanotion de « valeur humaine », à la rencontre entre théorie économique etenquête sociale empirique. Soucieux de réintroduire le choix politique enamont des décisions économiques, ils ont joué un rôle d'experts au servicede la modernisation de l'Etat français après la seconde guerre mondiale,avant de s'engager dans une forme originale de tiers-mondisme. Rome, qui aadopté cette pensée de la valeur humaine au moment du concile Vatican II(1962-1965), la réinvestit aujourd'hui dans son combat contre labiopolitique moderne.
