Abstract

Food systems re-localisation, through local food networks, is considered a mean to foster regional sustainable development. Wholesalers and retailers are involved in these dynamics. However, they are neglected in literature as well as in public initiatives. Moreover, researches associated to these issues are mainly focused on supermarket chains neglecting independent retailers and wholesalers. The objective of the paper is twofold. First, to show the role these intermediaries play in the relocalisation of food chains. Second, we posit perspectives for future research about these issues.
