Abstract

La crise financière mondiale de 2008 se présente comme un exemple frappant de la myopie des marchés financiers. Les Etats sont venus, comme toujours, au secours des banques, sans pour autant se décider à mener uns stratégie commune. Pour engager la lutte contre la crise financières mondiales, les avis divergent : certains considèrent que le monétarisme cher à Milton Friedman connaît une crise qui ne peut connaître de solutions qu'avec le retour aux fondamentaux de cette théorie (Bernanke, Trichet, Merkel); d'autres en appellent au retour vers des formes internationales de keynésianisme (Strauss-Kahn, Blanchard). Dans le premier camp, on retrouve la plupart des dirigeants des grandes institutions internationales, sans doute soucieuses de n'engager que des économistes financiers bien engagés dans la voie du monétarisme. Dans le second camp, encore bien déserté, les analyses faites par un think tank dirigé par James Galbraith, mais aussi par Stiglitz, Pisani-Ferry, Fitoussi).
