Abstract

Cet article propose une lecture de la crise actuelle du système hospitalier français. Son évolution, depuis le début du XIXe siècle, a été motivée par un objectif de démarchandisation. L'hôpital s'est d'abord construit en opposition au marché de la santé, il a ensuite accompagné le mouvement de socialisation de la dépense de santé, initié à la fin du XIXe siècle. Depuis les années 1980, les réformes favorisent une remarchandisation. La crise actuelle de l'hôpital tient au fait que la logique managériale vient heurter une histoire marquée par l'accueil de toutes les souffrances.
