Estimation de la relation surface-ventes pour la vente par catalogue

Abstract

Pour un distributeur, l'espace de présentation est un des éléments fondamentaux du coût mais aussi l'un des facteurs principaux déterminant la demande. En vente à distance, cet espace est représenté par la surface catalogue. A partir de résultats d'estimation de modèles sur deux bases de données, l'hypothèse de l'existence d'une relation monotone croissante, plutôt linéaire, entre le chiffre d'affaires et la surface est vérifiée. Si des seuils minima et maxima ont pu être mis en évidence, la relation ne semble pas être de type sigmoïde (courbe en «S») et ne permet pas de valider les hypothèses issues de la théorie de la perception. La méthodologie choisie, l'approche en coupe instantanée, ne permet cependant pas de séparer les effets spécifiques de la surface des anticipations du chef de rayon.
