Efficacité privée et publique de la gestion du risque phytosanitaire : le rôle de l'information

Abstract

Pour analyser la question de l'information en matière de protection des cultures, on a choisi de spécifier l'information comme un intrant produit et intraconsommé sur l'exploitation agricole. Ce cadre conceptuel permet d'analyser le rôle de l'information dans la gestion du risque phytosanitaire et de mettre en évidence les déterminants des choix des agriculteurs dans ce contexte. Bien qu'ils soient encore très frustres, les modèles développés permettent de proposer des éléments de réponse à certaines questions relatives à l'information phytosanitaire. L'utilisation d'information tend effectivement à réduire la consommation de pesticides des agriculteurs. Ce résultat repose, dans une large mesure, sur le faible niveau actuel du coût relatif de ces intrants. En outre, les résultats issus de cette modélisation amènent à penser que la faiblesse du coût relatif actuel des pesticides est à l'origine de l'absence de marché de l'information phytosanitaire.
