Abstract

Ce chapitre présente une méthode d'analyse, fondée sur l'utilisation de l'économétrie des données de panel, de l'attitude des producteurs face au risque et à l'information. Cette méthode est appliquée à l'utilisation des pesticides par les producteurs français de grandes cultures. Cette application, présentée tout au long du chapitre, illustre les avantages et limites de la méthodologie. Cette étude se concentre sur deux points qui sont traités successivement à travers l'estimation d'une fonction de production et l'utilisation d'une stratégie d'inférence appropriée : l'insuffisance d'utilisation d'information par les agriculteurs et l'apparente cohérence des choix des agriculteurs avec l'hypothèse de maximisation de l'espérance d'utilité. Les auteurs utilisent les données d'un panel cylindré issu du Réseau d'information comptable agricole. Ce panel, analysé dans le cadre de la méthode des moments généralisée de Hansen, contient les données relatives à 496 agriculteurs et couvre la période 1987-1990.
