La religion : un paysage en profonde évolution

Abstract

Plusieurs enquêtes sur l'état du sentiment religieux ont été menées. Qu'apprennent-elles ? L'auteur commence par un bilan de l'évolution en longue période. Partant de la distinction entre un dieu personnel et un dieu plutôt impersonnel, il éclaircit ensuite ce paradoxe d'une appartenance religieuse en partie vidée de son contenu en différenciant un christianisme "confessant" d'un christianisme "culturel" (identitaire), à l'intérieur d'un champ symbolique également structuré par un troisième pôle, celui de l'humanisme séculier. Ceci permet d'aborder l'étude des relations entre intégration catholique et attitudes éthiques, civiques, politiques, en tenant compte des diverses sensibilités internes au catholicisme. Enfin, prenant du recul, l'auteur propose une interprétation générale de ce qui semble bien constituer une profonde transformation du paysage religieux.
