Les jeunes ruraux entre ville et campagne

Abstract

Selon une enquête effectuée auprès de 2 400 jeunes ruraux (au sens INSEE) de 19 et de 25 ans dans six régions différentes, on constate que 54% d'entre eux souhaitent rester en milieu rural, seulement 36% de ceux qui sont encore lycéens ou étudiants ; 67% pensent rester dans leur région. Les tendances à quitter le milieu rural où à partir dans une autre région obéissent à la même logique : elles sont d'autant plus fortes que les racines locales sont moins grandes et que le niveau scolaire ou social est plus élevé. Cependant, cet exode est contrebalancé par un important flux inverse, puisqu'un quart des jeunes de l'enquête a surtout grandi en ville, et il sera freiné par l'attachement à la maison individuelle. Les préférences vont vers les communes assez grandes et assez proches de la ville (on tient à un minimum de loisirs, de commerces et de services), et la force de l'identité régionale joue un rôle beaucoup plus important que prévu.
