Abstract

L'article 2 de la Convention sur la diversité biologique, adoptée lors de la Conférence de Rio en 1992, définit la biodiversité comme la variabilité des organismes vivants de toute origine y compris, entre autres, les écosystèmes terrestres, marins et autres écosystèmes aquatiques et les complexes écologiques dont ils font partie : ce la comprend la diversité au sein des espèces et entre espèces ainsi que celle des écosystèmes. Cependant, les politiques environnementales, qui se sont développées depuis la seconde moitié du XX°siècle, ont peu porté sur la biodiversité et les services écosystémiques, à l'exception de la protection des espèces emblématiques (lynx, ours...), de la gestion des ressources halieutiques et des écosystèmes remarquables, comme les parcs nationaux.
