Abstract

Top managers of listed companies are facing strong pressures coming from various stakeholder groups reacting to their main decisions publically communicated. These various pressures coupled with a deeper thinking on the nature of the corporate mission and role question the personal responsibility of these top managers. Whereas this question has been largely addressed by governance theories, this paper aims to characterize empirically, from top managers' discourses, their main engagement logics reflecting, within their organizational context, the definition of their responsibilities. (English) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] La dirección de las empresas que cotizan en bolsa está sometida a una fuerte presión que proviene de la reacción de las diferentes partes interesadas ante las principales decisiones públicamente comunicadas. Estas diferentes presiones asociadas a una discusión más profunda de la misión y el rol de las empresas nos llevan a cuestionar la responsabilidad de esos actores. Si, el tema ha sido bastante tratado por las teorías de la gobernanza, este artículo se interesa por caracterizar empíricamente, a partir de los discursos de los propios dirigentes, sus principales lógicas de compromiso que reflejan, dentro del contexto organizacional, la definición de su propia responsabilidad. (Spanish) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] Les dirigeants d'entreprises cotées sont soumis à des pressions significatives de la part de différentes parties prenantes réagissant à leurs principales décisions publiquement communiquées. Ces différentes pressions, tout comme une réflexion plus profonde sur la nature de la mission et du rôle des entreprises, interpellent sur la responsabilité propre de ces acteurs. Si le débat a largement été traité par les théories de la gouvernance, cet article s'intéresse à caractériser empiriquement, à partir des discours des dirigeants euxmêmes, leurs principales logiques d'engagement. Ceci est le reflet, dans le contexte organisationnel, de la définition de leur responsabilité.
