Abstract

The present purpose was to identify the factors explaining the use of male condoms by young people in Kinshasa. Based on data from a survey of 200 young people. The estimates show a low rate of condom use, with 71.5% of young respondents not using condoms. The logit model results show that the age group of 20 or less, students, the jobless and people who have already suffered from Sexually Transmitted Infections (IST) in the last 12 months are highly likely to use condoms. In addition, variables such as the so-called revival religion, Lingala linguistic origin and the number of sexual partners negatively influence condom use.
