Abstract

De nombreuses mutations de la distribution, le coût du carburant et le vieillissement de la population annoncent un retour des consommateurs vers les commerces de proximité. Cette recherche propose de tirer du benchmarking du commerce de proximité au Japon des enseignements profitables au modèle français en se fondant sur les différentes dimensions de la proximité et de la convenience. Le modèle des « convenience stores » (CVS) japonais est entré dans une phase de maturité après plus de 30 ans d'existence. Depuis les premiers Seven-Eleven japonais, le cas étudié ici, ce groupe a atteint un développement mondial en fondant son avantage concurrentiel sur un système et un réseau de distribution propres à développer une perception positive, chez le consommateur, de la proximité et de la « convenience ».
